The entire outdoor range is closed Friday afternoons-evenings for the weekly Itasca Action Pistol event. The closure begins at 3:30 PM, when setup for Action Pistol begins. Itasca Action Pistol is OPEN TO ALL, not just club members.

Arrive in time to don your holster and pistol, and to participate in the REQUIRED Safety Briefing at 5:15.

Action Pistol is a fun, weekly event open to all. The cost is $5.00 per night. The details are in the links above, and those details include everything you need to bring, and slide shows so you can get a feel for the weekly events.

This is a good way to challenge yourself to learn how to shoot better, handle your firearm more safely and improve your overall skills. Certified Range Safety Officers are on site, and they run the event.

You can choose to be as competitive as you want. Or take it easy and learn to draw and shoot well before increasing your speed. Weekly scores get sent out to all participants.

All events begin with a mandatory safety brief at 5:15pm.

Volunteers welcome, needed and very much appreciated. Volunteer suggestions for stage elements are always considered and much appreciated. Events are subject to change. Special events which are missed because of rain, construction or other interruptions will be moved to the next available week.

$5 Entry Fee (Spectating is free)

Hearing protection
A Firearm in proper working order (rental guns available)

Highly recommended equipment:

Level 1 Retention Holster (covers trigger guard) No Blackhawk Serpa Holsters (due to safety issues)
Magazine pouch/holder(s)
A common loadout for stages used to be 3 magazines of 11, 10, and 10. You commonly need to do two reloads.
Reloading from the pocket is allowed.

IGC instructor teams are certified to teach Minnesota Permit to Carry courses by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Itasca Gun Club.

Preregistration is required to make sure there's a spot for you in the class. Contact the instructor to preregister.

The class includes instruction and live shooting on the indoor range. Bring a centerfire handgun (not .22 rimfire) and 50 rounds of ammunition.

Eye and hearing protection is required. We have foam earplugs and loaner shooting glasses available for on site use, but you should bring your own if you prefer that.

If you don't already own a pistol, we have loaner equipment and ammo for a fee. Contact the instructor before the day of the class. This is partly to help you consider the type of pistol that would work best for you.

This all-day class is indoors, so class will be held regardless of weather.

I WILL RUN TWO MATCH TIMES. MATCH #1 @ 1:00 PM AND THE 2nd MATCH TIME @ 3:30pm. YOU ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE IN BOTH MATCHES OR JUST ONE. COME ON OUT AND HAVE SOME FUN!!

Rules

100 Yard Prone Position shooting at reduced targets to simulate 800-900-1000 yards. Rifles are limited to .22 rimfire caliber due to the size of the scoring rings.

Sorry no scopes (just spotting scopes)….Iron Sights Only...

We have added the option to the Mini Palma Match of Benchrest. As Benchrest is not an official position for Palma, but it gives everyone another

opportunity to shoot 800-900-1000 yards..

Benchrest Rules:

A front Support is allowed, bags or rest. No Lead Sleds. No rear bags. All other Prone rules apply.

Targets supplied are the LR-S International Mini-Palma Targets.

Unlimited sighters and 10 shots for record ….800 yards.

Monthly Business Meeting - Indoor Classroom and Range (08/18/2026)

This is the Itasca Gun Club's regular monthly meeting. It's open to members and prospective members.

Meetings start on time, and usually take just an hour. There's discussion on current and future activities, membership, projects and status of range development.

10 shots Slow Fire Prone, 5 sighters, 15 shots total, single shot, 20 minutes time
10 shots Rapid Fire Prone in 70 seconds, must include an enbloc/magazine change
10 shots Rapid Fire from the sitting or kneeling positions in 60 seconds, with an enbloc/magazine change
10 shots Slow Fire Standing, single load, no sling, 10 minute time

Course of Fire for the 100 Year Old Rifle:

10 rounds, Iron Sights, Target SR-C 200 yards

5 rounds any position incl/ bench rest/ 5 shots Standing Unsupported/no sling.

They can be any kind of rifle as long as manufactured at least 100 years ago. Modern replicas of old rifles do not qualify.

This match is open to the public. You are welcome to come out and simply watch. We have competitors from all over the Northland. The Matches are open to anyone interested, and everyone is welcome. Spotting scopes are NOT provided. Shooting pads to soften the ground are NOT provided.

Rifle Range Reserved for Youth Fun Shoot (09/12/2026)

This event It is open for anyone 11-18 years of age.

All firearms and ammunition will be provided.

Prizes for the top three scores.

Parents need to be present:

To sign release of liability forms.
No parent, no shoot.

They also can shoot two pieces of history

The purpose of the event is to get kids out of the house and experience recreational shooting. All targets are knock down and reset targets.

If a youth has not shot before, we will have experienced couches to assist them.

We are also hoping this will encourage some of the youth to come shoot indoors in our youth league during the winter at the club.

Hours of shooting will be 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Parents and or kids who are interested need to call and reserve a spot.

We ask that available RSO's come out to help.

10 shots Slow Fire Standing, single load, no sling, 10 minute time

Course of Fire for the 100 Year Old Rifle:

10 rounds, Iron Sights, Target SR-C 200 yards

5 rounds any position incl/ bench rest/ 5 shots Standing Unsupported/no sling.

They can be any kind of rifle as long as manufactured at least 100 years ago. Modern replicas of old rifles do not qualify.

I WILL RUN TWO MATCH TIMES. MATCH #1 @ 1:00 PM AND THE 2nd MATCH TIME @ 3:30pm. YOU ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE IN BOTH MATCHES OR JUST ONE. COME ON OUT AND HAVE SOME FUN!!

Rules

100 Yard Prone Position shooting at reduced targets to simulate 800-900-1000 yards. Rifles are limited to .22 rimfire caliber due to the size of the scoring rings.

Sorry no scopes (just spotting scopes)….Iron Sights Only...

We have added the option to the Mini Palma Match of Benchrest. As Benchrest is not an official position for Palma, but it gives everyone another

opportunity to shoot 800-900-1000 yards..

Benchrest Rules:

A front Support is allowed, bags or rest. No Lead Sleds. No rear bags. All other Prone rules apply.

Course of Fire

Richard Karpik will be Following NRA Small Bore guidelines.

Targets supplied are the LR-S International Mini-Palma Targets.

Unlimited sighters and 10 shots for record ….800 yards.
2 sighters and 10 shots for record ….900 yards.
2 sighters and 10 shots for record...1000 yd.

Total 30 rounds for record plus your sighter rounds.

Shooting Mat (A carpet remnant or camping pad works)
