What We Offer for Shooting, Education and Training

Itasca Gun Club offers multiple types of casual or competitive indoor and outdoor shooting, and a number of special events.  When we are having an indoor shooting event, the public is welcome to participate. Education and training are also open to all.  Events are shown on our calendar and clicking on a calendar event takes you to a page with more information, including how to contact the event organizer.

Outdoor shooting is run the same way.  The public is invited to participate in outdoor shooting events. These will be on the calendar.

Our "operating hours" are when these events are open to the public.  When there are no events scheduled, the outdoor range is closed for members-only use, and the indoor range is closed to all.  We are a 100% volunteer organization, with no permanent or paid staff, so we cannot leave the indoor and outdoor range open to unrestricted access.  Some events have a small fee, some training has costs.

The outdoor rifle range has multiple covered firing points on the rifle line, with bench rests.  There are berms and target backers (for stapling targets) at 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300 yards. There are two steel gongs at 300+ yards.  Armor Piercing ammo is not allowed.

Pistols are OK on the rifle range, but we also have a dedicated pistol range. This range has multiple covered firing points, with a tall, 3-sided berm to keep projectiles inside the pistol bay. There are a few moveable target backers, but you are welcome to bring your own interactive pistol targets as long as all targets go home with you.  No clay pigeons allowed; pick up your used targets and trash.

Shotguns are not allowed except during special events run by one of our Range Safety Officers, such as birdshot during multi-gun events and the annual Sight In Days where people can shoot slugs to sight in a deer hunting shotgun.
