Student Information Sheet – Expectations for COVID-19 Safety Management

  • Welcome to the Itasca Gun Club classroom and range.  There are packets of information and paperwork at each seat in the classroom.
  • Masks are required for indoor classes at Itasca Gun Club. We are going to have only 12 people in a classroom that can handle 30, so distancing is easy. But the duration of the class requires that everyone has some sort of breathing protection.  COVID-19 can remain airborne for hours.
  • Eye protection is required. We will not be sharing shooting glasses. You need to bring a pair of shooting glasses. These can be found in hardware stores and big box stores. Prices range from $5 - $50. You should have a pair anyway for your shooting practice.
  • Ear protection is required. We can no longer provide shared shooting muffs, but we do provide disposable foam ear plugs. Either bring your own muffs, of be familiar with how to install foam plugs in your ears. Again, hardware and big box stores carry these.
  • Bring a lunch, snacks, coffee, pop, water, etc. There will be no food or beverages available. The refrigerator is not available, so bring your own cooler if you need one.
  • Bring your own pen/pencil.
  • Elder Circle is offering two free cloth masks per adult for local residents. Some local people are selling homemade cloth masks for around $8 each.
  • We’ve removed extra furniture from the classroom. There is one chair per table. On the indoor range, the lanes are now separated by plastic sheets. We will only use odd numbered lanes so we can keep a good distance between students. The first student in should move to the farthest lane (7), like filling a plane from the rear row. Make sure you have everything you need before moving into the range. Exit the range with lane 1 leaving first.
  • On the firing range, gun safety always comes first. Instructors will sometimes need to be next to a student to help coach or to prevent problems. Instructors will wear face masks and/or shields, but they may have to be next to you or behind you. If this does not meet your comfort level, you should not take a class at this time.
