Youth Rifle Program

This educational program is open to all youth.  The Youth Rifle Program uses the Itasca Gun Club indoor range to shoot from December/January to March/April.  Intro/practice sessions run weekly, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday evenings. Young shooters between the ages of 11 – 18 may sign up if they can demonstrate safe rifle handling. Both females and males, non-club members and club members may sign up to join the Youth Rifle Program.  There is no cost for this program.

All shooting is supervised by an adult Range Safety Officer.  Parents are welcome to come and watch, as the indoor range includes an observation room, where you can watch the shooting from behind glass, so you don't need hearing protection when .22's are being fired.

The program is open to all youth 11-18 years of age.  All equipment is supplied, but participants may use their own rifles.  The first night is sign up and equipment assignment.

This is a precision NRA 4 position training program so kids can learn how to shoot accurately; prone, sitting, kneeling and standing.  Safety is foremost, students will learn proper positions, breathing, sight alignment and trigger control.  Awards are presented as they advance in ability.  We hope to see you there.

There may be some travel to competitions if that becomes an option.

Although this is all about kids learning to shoot, this program does not have any connection to the DNR Youth Hunter Safety program.
